Extraordinary museum quality French oval quarter-plate daguerreotype of two young brothers identified in period handwriting along with a later label which reads, Louis Demaison et Charles Demaison enfants.  The two young handsome boys are posed outside in front of a white fence.  They wear wonderful matching dresses with exquisite white lace bloomers visible underneath.  Their outfits have been professional hand tinted in a spectacular vibrant blue with their boots showing a very realistic brown tint.  While the older lad seems most protective of his younger brother the little one certainly seems to have much more attitude!   The image is in outstanding quality with lovely and vibrant tones and contrast.  It is housed in a black lacquered wood frame, (5 1/8” x 6 1/8”), with hanger still attached. It is possible that this image has never been opened since the day it was taken.  A truly special daguerreotype and personal favorite, it is a show piece that will be the highlight of any collection!
